Colin Porter
PhD Student
Graduate Program in Neuroscience (GPN)
Colin graduated from McMaster University with a BSc. in neuroscience and a minor in mathematics. He completed an honors thesis in Dr. Sue Becker’s lab studying grid cells in the context of mood disorders. He then completed a Postbac at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience with Dr. Yingxue Wang studying how the brain encodes distance and time into memory. He joined the Howe Lab in 2025 and is currently interested in how neuromodulators in the striatum act on dendrites to shape learning. Outside the lab, Colin enjoys adventures, running, climbing, and skiing.
